Eleven young Italians have been given awards for their successes in Uk on the evening of the 25th October 2018, during a gala reception for the 40th Annual Conference of the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the UK.

The aim of the “Talented Young Italians” Awards is to bring to public attention the individuals who have succeeded in their endeavour in the UK, keeping at the same time a link with Italy and fostering the exchanges between the two Countries.

DSC_6825a (1)As for the last fourth editions, the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK – in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in London and with the patronage of H.E. the Italian Ambassador – awarded the most distinguished young Italians in these categories: Finance and Services; Industry and Commerce; Research and Innovation; Media and Communication.

The winners of the 2018 edition are: For the category of Media and Communication: Pamela Barbaglia – Chief Deals Correspondent EMEA at Reuters and Albero Nardelli – Europe editor, BuzzFeed News.

For the category of Research and Innovation: Paolo Aversa – Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Strategy and Director of the Full Time MBA at Cass Business School, City, University of London, Marco Endrizzi – Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow and Anna Sergi – Lecturer in Criminology Deputy and Director Centre for Criminology Department of Sociology,University of Essex.

DSC_6961aFor the category Finance and Services: Antonio De Negri – CEO & Founder di Cirdan Capital Management, Mina Zingariello – Deputy Director of Programmes for Libya at International Rescue Committee and Stefano Donati – Partner of Compagnia per l’Innovazione ed i Valori (C.I.V.). For the category of Industry and Commerce: Federica Beretta – Deputy Director of Opera Gallery London, Aldo De Leonibus – Chief Executive Officer at Inventya Ltd and Luca Melchiori – Group Leader, Scientific Advisory Board member, Adaptimmune Ltd., Oxford, UK.

A committee of senior representatives evaluated the applications by using their expertise in each category: Rudi Bogni, Chairman, Northill UK, for Finance and Services. Professor Salvator Roberto Amendolia, Consultant at Etrufin Reserco Ltd and Senior Advisor at the Italian Chamber for Industryand Commerce for the UK. Marco Niada, Partner RLM Finsbury, former London Bureau Chief of Il Sole 24 Ore, for Media and Communication. Leonardo Simonelli Santi, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, for Industry and Commerce.

The constitution of the “Talented Italians in the UK” Association was announced during the TYI Ceremony, together with its first research report. Italian successful activities and successful individuals abroad are an important asset for Italy, therefore the need not to disperse this important intellectual resource arises from the willingness to maintain a link with the Talented Italians and create a net among them.

During the gala dinner the Keynes Sraffa Awards were also held. As tradition, this prestigious award, organised in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, aims to celebrate outstanding Italian and English individuals who epitomise the cooperation between this country and Italy. This year’s winners are Paolo Baratta, President of La Biennale di Venezia and Olga Polizzi, Deputy Chairman & Director of Design for Rocco Forte Hotels.
